Evident Change staff Simone Sawyer, Katie Meyer, and Jeff Morino will present two sessions at the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) Training Institute later this month. The training institute can be attended in person or virtually.

The first session will be presented on the main stage and available virtually. “Shifting Focus From the ‘What’ to the ‘Why'” will teach participants ways to incorporate information about motivation, strengths, and needs into successful supervision. The session will promote a holistic approach to supervision that balances reducing recidivism with fostering desistance, challenging conventional methods, and enhancing the effectiveness of interventions.

The second workshop will be presented for in-person attendees. “Did You Say What They Heard? Informed Communication Styles for Effective Casework” will share elements of Evident Change’s supervision strategy system, which identifies and teaches clinicians communication strategies tailored to a client’s individual communication style. Through scripted and freestyle roleplaying, workshop participants will discover the value in how you communicate, not only what you say.

The training institute dates run June 25 through July 25 for virtual presentations and June 28 through July 1 for in-person presentations. You can find more information and register for in-person or virtual attendance on APPA’s website.
