Policies and legislation meant to keep children safe are flawed because they do not adequately tackle the nature of juvenile delinquency or address the necessary steps for prevention and reform. Referencing the ineffective handling of schoolhouse shootings, this article discusses the need for specific improvements: better mental health care for young people, stronger community bases, and restorative justice. The article also asserts that all members of the community play a crucial role in the justice system.
