Two Teens Face the Odds in Oakland
August 19, 2013 | by Jill Tucker | San Francisco Chronicle
In this web series, Jill Tucker explores and documents the struggles that African American males face in Oakland in the midst of high crime rates and permeating poverty. Over the past decade, the number of black males killed on the streets of Oakland nearly matched the number of black males who graduated from high school ready to attend college. Part 1 of this series tells the story of two teens facing these odds, Thomas Logwood and Olajuwon “Tutu” Clayborn.
