“The Arduous Journey of the Foster Child” is the first of a three-part series that will focus on California’s foster care system and its impact on both foster children and foster parents. Writer Jamie Ballard tells the stories of Phoenix and Angie. Phoenix entered the foster care system after living with abusive parents for 12 years, while Angie entered at the age of eight. Angie shares how the court system made her feel criminalized in distinct points of her time in foster care.
