Strained Foster Care System A ‘Meter Of Our Social Problems’

Arun Rath speaks with former foster child, Claudia Felder, and Cris Beam, author of the book To The End of June: The Intimate Life of American Foster Care on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Claudia Felder was only 3 when she first went into foster care, traveling through the system until finally being adopted by her current family at the age of 21. Throughout this time Felder and her sister lived in 6 different foster care homes, in all of which they endured physical and sexual abuse.
