While there are an increasing number of stories about instances of elder abuse, media sources often portray cases as isolated events instead of framing them in the context of an elder abuse epidemic. In order to raise public awareness of the frequency of financial, physical, and emotional harm done to older adults, there must be better news coverage of this maltreatment.
