Lawanda Ravoira, director of NCCD’s Center for Girls and Young Women, will head the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center in December. The newly founded organization will aim to help at-risk girls by addressing their troubled backgrounds in order to prevent them from entering the juvenile justice system. This will be the largest single grant given by the Community Foundation in Jacksonville, and the center will focus on making Duval County and the First Coast a model for how to treat young, at-risk women.
