In 2008, a team from Riverside County’s Welfare-to-Work (WTW) program attended the NCCD Structured Decision Making (SDM) conference in Sacramento, CA. This event usually focuses on SDM systems in child welfare, and draws most of its participants from that community.

In 2008, a team from Riverside County’s Welfare-to-Work (WTW) program attended the NCCD Structured Decision Making (SDM) conference in Sacramento, CA. This event usually focuses on SDM systems in child welfare, and draws most of its participants from that community. The WTW team met with NCCD staff to learn how approaches used in other human services—actuarial risk assessment and comprehensive family functioning assessment—could be applied in their program to help customers achieve their participation goals.

In our latest blog post, NCCD’s Shannon Flasch describes how our team worked closely with Riverside County staff to develop three core assessments to comprise an SDM system for WTW.
