NCCD’s Dr. Angela Irvine was interviewed by the Center for Court Innovation to discuss the role of research in determining the causes of the overrepresentation of LGBT youth in the juvenile justice system, and how this research is useful for policy reform. Dr. Irvine discusses how NCCD task forces have been set-up in three CA counties to evaluate the placement of minority and LGBT youth in foster care systems. She also discusses the growing emergence of youth courts and the need for research on the topic in order to determine its efficacy.
