“The plenary talks, breakout discussions, and all the contributions were of an amazingly high standard…I certainly learned a lot and the whole experience has given me fresh hope and provided me with new ideas for the future.”

On May 13-16, 2014 in San Diego, nearly 400 attendees gathered at the Town and Country Resort Hotel for the NCCD Conference on Children, Youth, and Families, four days of child welfare, juvenile and restorative justice, and education content delivered by NCCD staff and a diverse slate of guest presenters. Conference participants spent time discussing topics like PREA in juvenile facilities, using restorative justice in juvenile diversion, implementing the Structured Decision Making systems for child welfare and adult protective services, data monitoring and analysis for better practice, and much more. Highlights of the conference included inspiring plenary speeches by Robert Lewis Jr. of the Base and Father Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries.

NCCD extends our sincere gratitude to all of our conference attendees, presenters, and partners who made the conference an unforgettable event. NCCD would also like to give a special thanks to our conference sponsors: IBM, The California Wellness Foundation, The California Endowment, Casey Family Programs, Violin Memory, AutoMon, and the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare.

Come back and visit our website often for more content in all of these areas and to learn about other NCCD events. We warmly invite you to join us at this year’s Media for a Just Society Awards on October 15 in San Francisco.
