Outgoing Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot penned an op-ed for the Dallas Morning News in which he shared positive reforms in youth justice, crediting Evident Change’s 2023 evaluation effort led by Dr. Erin Espinosa.

The follow-up report, published last month, shows that Dallas County’s detention population has dropped by roughly 24% and the time youth spend in detention before their case is resolved has decreased by nearly 60%.

Creuzot noted that this progress “requires trusting data over instinct and having the courage to act on it.”
