May 2, 2016 | NCCD
NCCD is very pleased to have William C. Bell, PhD, president and CEO of Casey Family Programs, serve as keynote speaker on opening day of our upcoming 2016 NCCD Conference on Children, Youth, and Families. Casey Family Programs, with which NCCD has worked closely for many years, is the largest operating foundation in the United States that focuses on safely decreasing the need for foster care. As president and CEO, Dr. Bell is responsible for the foundation’s vision, mission, and strategies.
Dr. Bell has worked in the human services field more than 35 years—15 of those with Casey. Prior to joining Casey, he was commissioner of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. Earlier in his career, Dr. Bell helped to run Miracle Makers, a private, minority-owned, nonprofit child and family services organization in New York City.
With a PhD in social welfare from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, Dr. Bell has served on numerous boards and committees and garnered many honors and awards recognizing him for his tireless work toward improving the lives of vulnerable children. Most recently, Dr. Bell received the Pride of Our Community Award from the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services in New York City (2015) and was selected as the 2014 James A. Joseph Lecturer by the Association of Black Foundation Executives.
Dr. Bell is a member of the boards of Philanthropy Northwest, Delta State University Foundation, the Campaign for Black Male Achievement, and United Way of King County. He also serves on the advisory board of the Racial Equity and Leadership Institute and is a former NCCD board member.
