For the past 20 years, I’ve had the joy and privilege of watching and then leading this organization in its growth and evolution. Working with you, we have broadened the breadth and depth of our work across the human service and justice sectors, and our partners now can be found far beyond our national borders.
While our heads were down, as we focused on supporting the people who work in our systems and those they serve, we outgrew our name. As we neared our 115th anniversary, it became increasingly clear that our name not only excluded so much of what we do, it had become a barrier to achieving our mission of just and equitable social systems.
So we set out to find a new name that would honor and uplift those who work in our systems and the people they serve. And we took this opportunity to think deeply about our identity and how important it is in making an impact with our partners. This effort wasn’t about changing who we are, fabricating anything, or creating marketing spin. We’ve spent the last 18 months coming to crystal-clear internal alignment about who we are, why it matters, and the value we want to provide our partners and the world.
With that, I am so proud to announce to you on behalf of the entire organization, that we are now Evident Change!
We couldn’t have gotten to this point without the shared success of our partnership with you. Thank you. We look forward to continuing to work with you to make our systems—and our society—more equitable from the inside out.
