Natalie Cholula, Doctoral Research Assistant
Natalie is a graduate student in the sociology department specializing in crime, law, and deviance at Portland State University. Her previous research experience ranges in disciplines and includes Latinx youth mental health, immigrants and criminalization, and policing practices. Natalie uses both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Youth Justice Fellows

Ethan Benabides, Youth Justice Fellow
Ethan’s advocacy path began at age 16 when he was an intern with a nonprofit. He wants to use his voice to elevate youth who are still finding their voice and to bring positive change to the child welfare system. Ethan has spent six and a half years in the foster care system and is currently in extended care. He is going to school to become a real estate agent.

Alicia Lozoya, Youth Justice Fellow
Alicia joined Evident Change in 2024 as a youth justice fellow. She has experience working with youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. She also discovered her passion for cutting hair in 2020 and became a barber.

Saria Uribe headshot

Saria Uribe
Saria is an at-risk youth specialist, former foster youth, and foster youth and juvenile justice advocate who has lived experience and knows
what the child welfare system is like for foster youth. She is a member of an organization that focuses on changing the child welfare and juvenile justice systems through policy change, and she has advocated for foster youth to have access to activities while they are in care.
